The money
Commissioners collect entry fees directly — Venmo, cash, whatever your group already uses. FootballPools keeps score, tracks who's paid, and shows the standings.
Free for pools up to 5 members. Bigger pools pay $2 per member, once, for the whole season. Members never pay FootballPools anything.
FootballPools is an NFL pool platform: create a private pool, invite your group, and compete across all 18 weeks of the season in Survivor (Last Man Standing) or Pick'em. Live scoring from real results, automatic deadline reminders, and commissioner tools for tracking entry fees. It runs in any browser — nothing to download.
Pick ONE team each week, straight up. If they win, you're through; if they lose you're out. You can never pick the same team twice, and a team on its bye is off the board that week. The last member standing takes the pot. If everyone still alive falls in the same week, the pool's tie rule decides it — by default a valid pick beats no pick, or the commissioner can have them share as co-champions.
Each week you pick any five games and take a side against the spread. Get all five right and you take that week's pot; if nobody's perfect, it rolls over and next week is worth more. A push counts as a loss, and the spread is frozen early in the week so everyone plays the same number. Your commissioner chooses in advance what happens to the final week's pot. Commissioners can also enable the auto-hook, which adds a half point to whole-number lines so a push can't happen.
Free for pools of up to five members. Larger pools pay $2 per member above 5, paid by the commissioner, and if the pool grows later only the new members are added. Everything is included: live scoring, reminders, payment tracking, and every week. Entry fees for your prize pot are separate and stay entirely within your group.
Your commissioner — FootballPools never touches the pot. The commissioner sets the entry fee, shares their payment handles (Venmo, PayPal, Pix and more), and FootballPools tracks who has paid and who still owes, so the books stay clean without the awkward spreadsheet.
Game by game: each game locks at its own kickoff, and the Sunday slate locks together. Every member gets a reminder the day before and a last call about two hours out, by email and push notification. Miss the deadline in Survivor and you're eliminated that week; in Pick'em you simply sit the week out.
Yes — commissioners can leave a pool open all season long. Late joiners in Survivor are only responsible from the week they join, so nobody is instantly eliminated for weeks they missed. New pools can also be created at any point in the season.
An optional Survivor rule. If the commissioner allows it, an eliminated member can buy back in and rejoin alive from the current week, with their used-team history intact. The rebuy fee goes into the pot and is tracked in the pool's finances tab.
The pick is voided, never punished. In Survivor you stay alive and the team goes back on your slate; in Pick'em the voided pick simply doesn't count against your card. Nobody gets knocked out by the weather or a TV reschedule.
Automatically, from real game results — picks are marked and eliminations posted within minutes of each game going final. Standings, pots and rollovers update on their own. No spreadsheets, no disputes, no waiting for whoever runs the pool to get home.
In Pick'em the pot rolls over — weeks can stack until someone lands a perfect card, and the commissioner decides the final-week rule in advance: split among the season's best, carry to next season, or commissioner's call. In Survivor, if every remaining player falls in the same week, a player who made a valid losing pick outlasts one who made none — and if they all made picks, they share the pot as co-champions.
